SO.

After discovering the joys of screen capture, I decided to make a random tutorial on how I stuck myself in an iPod. Not that I expect anyone to actually care ─ mostly likely you all know how to do this already anyway ─ but I needed a sane time waster and I've always wanted to make a tutorial. And.....here it is.

I'm actually pretty pleased with how it turned out, but getting there? UGH.

GIF became my mortal enemy and ruined the image quality, meaning I had to go back and save everything as a different image type. My dumb old laptop decided it didn't like Microsoft Publisher at about this time and felt the need to freeze up for 15 minutes every time I saved a new picture. But PNG became my enemy as well and refused to actually show the image. Apparently it hadn't processed anything and saved the tutorial as epic amounts of blank space. So I tried again. Same thing happened with JPEG. (Do you have a mental image of steam pouring out of my ears?) And I was still dealing with 15-minute computer freeze-ups every single time I started over.

Well, I eventually made up my mind to put up with the weird image quality and post it anyway. But this time when I saved it as a GIF, all of the text mysteriously disappeared. OF COURSE IT DID. As a final backup plan, I went to the Recycle Bin to retrieve the original file, the one that had bad image quality but at least had the text.

Over the past few hours, I've deleted about 9 failed tutorials. And stupid me, they ALL HAVE THE SAME NAME. So I had to restore them all, track down their original locations, look at all of them (even the ones that were nothing but epic amounts of blank space), delete the ones that I wasn't looking for. Rinse, lather, and repeat.

And THAT's when I remembered that I had emptied the Recycle Bin right after deleting the original tutorial.

..................I had to shut down the computer for the rest of the day. C8

But today, I went back to have another look at it. I tried saving it as a bitmap instead of GIF/PNG/JPEG, and praise be to God, it WORKED! 8D Converting lots of little JPEG files into one big bitmap file results in a very, very large file, so it took eons to upload this thing, but it was worth it (to me, anyway). And now you can see my random tutorial that you probably don't care about anyway. Yaaaaaay. :0

PS: My apologies for wasting 5 minutes of your life~ ^^

Nice~
You described it all pretty well, too. Very easy to understand. :D I would add in something about editing the photo going inside (maybe skewing it to match the iPod's angle) but if only minimal editing wasn't required, disregard that.

Thanks~

Right. I mean, if anyone has the software to change the skew of a photo, they'd have faster, simpler ways of achieving the overall manip. x3

(Actually, there are ways to skew/stretch photos in MS Paint and MS Photo Editor, but I've tried them and they don't seem to give quite the quality of skewing a photo in GIMP or Photoshop. It just looked like a really stretched-out, messed-up photo. XD)
